  • The local press cooperated and the result was aRaleigh version of the Hollywood hype that accompanied worldwide searches for actresses to play the leads in films like “Gone With the Wind” and “The Song of Bernadette.” Pictures of the 25 aspirants for the RLT role appeared in the Raleigh newspapers amid speculation as to who would be chosen.
